hi got this from another website hope it helps thanx
that would be a no then lol.
red ripple finish on rocker cover is a must![]()
if i put it into a shop how much would it all cost around about do you reckon
$1,500 if I recall correctly, $1,000 if you do it yourself but as usual I'm not 100%
the list in post 2 is very thorough. it is also the list of things one person did to their car.
certainly dont need to do ALL those things unless you are really looking to go the works.
Something tells me the 'ripple red finish' on the rocker cover can be taken off the list!!!
without being a turbo nut i think the bold items would be essential. the others youd be able to do a basic conversion without worrying about.

I'll narrow that down even more
ECU
injectors
crossover pipe
crossover pipe to turbo heat sheild ????
air flow meter to turbo ducting metal plastic piping
exhaust manifold
turbocharger
dump pipe & front pipe
oil & water lines for turbocharger
Which - Might I add..
ECU-150 ish.
Injectors. 80each New. 200-300 second hand for 6.
Crossover Pipe 50 bucks
The rest of the piping.. 50-100.
Exhaust Manifold 200-350
Turbo 300-600 depending on what you get.
Dump and Front Pipe.. Around 100
Oil and water lines and Fittings. 100-200
I got all the *parts* I needed for <1000. I then spent more cash here and there making sure the leads were new, plugs were new, coil was new, injectors were cleaned etc.
1500 used to be the base price but thats doing the work yourself too.
I got all the parts I needed for 1000 like I said, but I still spent around 1800 by the time I was finished.
Boost Gauge- Cup etc etc etc. Shop around, by piece by piece if you can't find all the parts for cheap.
hi if u want a shop to do it i lookked into early this year best price i found was 7000 hope that helps thanx
yeah if ur not in a mad ruch and just want to drop it in at a shop and pick it up done. shop aaround. you can save yourself hundreds just searching for the best deals when they come up.. and research. ie what turbo will work best with ur geer. what cooling system matches ur turbo ect. and things like turbo a is good turbo b is better. but turbo b is twice the price and the money ca be better spent elswhere.Originally Posted by bextor84

and bextor s totaly right. why spend thousands of $$$ then not even be bothered with leads plugs even oil change. always remember that even fully tuned (please get her tuned properly too. its shocking how many people just dont) that forced induction is stressing ur motor so use top oil and just make sure the base motor is tipo top befor u boost her..
happyhunting. when i finished my diploma i will join u boosting![]()
Well, assuming its a budget conversion. Tuning will go as far as knocking the timing back a few degrees if you hear the lovely ol' ping noise. Not too much you can do I don't think without going to management.
Sell it & buy a factory E.T. But if you persist, you should have highlited CAM, INJECTORS. WORKSHOP MANUAL.
Nah cam's not a necessity. Unless your super keen.
cams always sound good but.. whats a factory E.T. worth.. is a hybrid build better with the factory rb30 block and the rb26 head whats your opinion....
you have more potential with a hybrid....but if you are prepared to go to that extent then a cam is nothing.....it all depends on how much time and money you got!!!!!
Click the scales.....you know you want to!!!!
whats a hybrid set up worth..
are you going to do it you're self??depends on how much a head is worth...a 25 head is cheaper than a 26 head......a 26 head is about $2500 i think....as for the price on getting one fitted i never found out a price
Click the scales.....you know you want to!!!!
To build it.. Well you wouldn't go tight ass style on it, upwards of 4k for the engine. Thats not including manifolds, turbo, exhaust etc. Dollars.
Cop this, thers a local dude [MECHANIC] who has the reputation as KING OF THE KIDS, His quotes to rebuild rb30 e.t is now 22-35000. THIRTY FIVE THOUSAND $$$$$$$$!!!!!. aND the kids are paying it!!!!!!!! Well p@#$k me!!!!!!!!. "here son, take this vt gts for a drive!" " no thanks mister, i might just get the motor rebuilt in my VL instead!"
Crap, 2500 for mine. ANother guy is getting one for 3500 or so with forgies.
I kid you not!
