    Exclamation Headlights MYSTERY!

    Hi everybody;

So my VL's headlights are playing up and I just can't seem to figure out the source of the problem!
On HIGH BEAM, all the lights are on as they are supposed to be, on low beam only the park lights are on and when only the park lights are turned on, they are as supposed to be.

    I have:
    • Checked fuses
    • Checked, tested and replaced broken relays
    • Replaced headlamp stalk switch
    • Checked all bulbs

Please help as I can't drive at night without blinding everyone or being almost invisible!

    Thanks

Have you tested the voltage coming out of the relays?

there are lots of plugs on the headlight wires, undo them and spray plugs with contact cleaner
    agree to check all earths

remember not to touch headlight globes with bare fingers, use clean gloves

Okay thanks, I'll spray them all with contact cleaner and see if that helps... If not it can't hurt to be done anyway as it's probably pretty bad :/
Then I'll check earths and get back to you all!

mine was doing similar a while back...

Found out it was the main plug loom on one of my headlights(big plug with about 6-7 pins in it). if i plugged it in all the way i got the problem but if i pulled the plug out slightly everything was good...
So make sure all the connectors are seated properly in the plug and are contacting the other plugs pins. and not sliding back a contact while its plugged in
    Get Me?

    SOLVED!

    I feel so stupid now...

Turned out it was actually the wrong relay. Went up to Repco, got myself a 5-pin relay and all is fixed!
    Except; now:
    1. The interior light flicks on when high beam is turned on
    2. Can't flash high beam

    lol yeahhhh, shut up. hahaha.

    I'll figure it out tomorrow.

Any helpful tips on adjusting the handbrake anybody?

I can't seem to adjust it on the RHS wheel and it's extremely frustrating! Whichever way I turn the little wheel, it doesn't seem to be making any progress whatsoever!
