    Default VL bumperbars question

does anyone know if the VL and VK REAR bumperbars and trims are the same
are the rear wagon and sedan bars the same, I think they are different

Im at frankston near melbourne and need new front and rear bumpers for my VL wagon, the originals are very brittle and keep breaking al the time
    anyone locally sell them?

is it safe to buy them on Ebay?
    thanks

Fronts are different as the front is pointy on the VK but rears are the same I'm 99% sure for the sedans. I have no idea about the wagons though.

Ebay is safe to buy except you miss alot of blemishes unless the seller takes good photos, it's hit & miss but you can usually pick the crap stuff from the good stuff

yeah the rear bumpers are the same for the vk/l sedans, ive used a VK rear bumper before, if you mean can a wagon bumper fit on a sedan then no that wont fit, i dont have an ebay account so i cant really comment on that (i would spend WAY too much money if i had one haha)

as above, the rear bumpers are the same but the trim around the top of the bumper are different sooooooo,
if you put a vk bumper on a vl you will need the vl trim and vise versa.

VL and VK wagon rear centre bars have slightly different brackets (and moulded attachment points on the bars) but if you find a VK rear set complete they look exactly the same from the outside and will bolt up to a VL okay with no visible difference. VL rear brackets won't fit the VK bar and vice versa so make sure you get the offset C-shaped brackets to suit as well.

The rear right side bars are very weak where they attach to the centre bumper and are almost always cracked. Probably better to find one in not too bad a shape and get it plastic welded and reinforced there.

that is very interesting about the brackets I will have to check that out.
also, why only the rear right side are very weak?

Maybe that's just the side everyone bumps into but it looks like the vertical piece the bolts go through is moulded so there's almost no plastic between it and the outer part of the bar. They all seem to split right at that point leaving an ugly gap visible from the top of the assembled bar.
