    Default VL battery light on

Hi guys I have a problem with me VL, couple of days ago the battery light come on so I figured the alternator wasnt working, so pulled it out and pulled the regulator of the back and the brushes were buggered, got them replaced by an auto elec and put it back together but still the battery light is on I have checked the fuses in the fuse box and all are fine. Has anyone got any ideas what it could be??
Any help would be great thanks Chris

    exactly what it is...... Alternator
run your car and get a multimeter on the battery posts a working alternator will show 14.2 volts... then drop when u turn your car of ultimately.

Brushes have been changed as u stated but could be your diodes as well

if its say 11.8 - 13V your alternator is Kaput

if your brushes were worn to shit the odds are you slip rings would be pretty worn as well...if they're not too bad then 30 seconds on a lathe and ya done. if they're dead then its just 2 solders to undo, a hammer and chisel to delicately remove the slip rings, and a hammer and socket to put the new slip rings on and then yeah just the 2 wires to re-solder.

as above, it would have been cheaper replacing your alternator. with new or changeover.
