where it come from was it more under the trans or up the front.. I just tonight replaced my front hoses as one was split and i was pumping out fluid. (front hoses are for the trans cooler built into the radiator drivers side end tank)

u probably overfilled it so i would think u blew out a seal. if fluid is coming from front of trans its your input shaft seal if its the rear of the box its the output shaft seal.

firstly tell us where the oil came from, e.g. front of engine bay, front of trans, rear of trans etc etc.
if it's front of engine bay easy fix, if it's rear of trans (seal) easy fix, if it's front of trans (seal) you have a problem that requires the trans to be removed.

Hi again thanks for help.Leak seems to originate from between back of bellhousing and front of auto oil pan on bottom of auto,is the oil pump located there?there are some oil lines in that area as well.Have ALLORY'S manual (doesn't show much detail)will put some more fluid in auto to find exact location of leak.Is there any where i can get some good pics of VL 6cylinder trans?cheers

I rekon judging by that jargon its coming from your front seal and blowing back. if ur car sits for a while is there drips coming from the bell housing as in where it meets your engine??? give me the weekend ill get some pics of my spare trans as im moving my spare rb30 and box to my new house

R u sure that is the problem? with your JATCO Transmission.
if so the trans MUST be removed out from under the vehicle. which not just anybody can do. are you confident, able and have the correct tools? e.g. hoist or jack, ramps and chassis stands, socket set with adequate extensions?

Hot tip if ur getting trans out do the rear main(on Engine behind Flywheel) and output shaft seal on the trans as well as the filter and tighten the bands.
cheap parts and worth doing it for peace of mind

have alook at the bell housing what happens is the bolts holding the bell housing comes loose and then leaks from the bolts which looks like its a front seal had it before

but regardless of how tight those bolts are bloke there is not meant to b oil in the bell housing,
Hence Front seal or rear main, or faulty/cracked torque inverter
