    Default Power to fuel pump

Okie dokie, bought another vl last week, runs fine on gas but no fuel getting pumped from anywhere. Took the hose off the internal pump and was dry as a bone, no noise coming from either pump so out came the test light.

Fuel pump fuse is fine, got back under the tank and pulled the flat plug off the bottom of the internal pump and got the mrs to turn the ignition on, test light gave a very dim light from 1 of the wires for about 2 seconds then went off. No power on any of the other wires going to either of the pumps(2 wires to external=dead, round plug to internal=dead, flat plug on internal=dead after 2 seconds), this is with ignition on and tried cranking and still nothing, left the car 10-15 min then tried the wire that gave a dim light and it gave off a dim light again for 2 seconds when the mrs turned the ignition on then off it goes again.

Im just nervous of hunting for a wiring problem as this is one of (those cars) where the wires for the external pump were literally just stripped back and twisted round the terminals then taped (now rectified) but you get the point.

As this is the first vl ive had that has fuel, this has be a bit nackered, id be happy to throw some new pumps in if i was sure thats whats wrong with it but yeah, any hints?

    Cheers in advance lads.

hmmm hows the relays could be sticky or worn and not giving a good connection.

Try other relays and try and backtrack the wiring as well could be stuffed
