My wife of 40 years who turns 62 next year has decided to part with her VL as above. I would appreciate any advice on the value of this vehicle.
We have had it from 1991(originally company owned) and it is a Limited Edition but not Opera House and please don't tell me there was no such thing as it is identical to the Opera House vehicle posted here some time ago, and we purchased two identical at the time at Auction and sold one almost straight away.
I still have the books and original receipt and RWC from April 91.
Repainted in two pac original white in 1999.
The engine was changed in 1999 due to me being ripped off by a clever mechanic. At the time it had a knock in the engine and I was too busy to check it out but I now know I had the engine changed for the sake of a fuel pump.
It's in very good condition because, as I said, it has been my wifes daily for all these years. The only rust is just starting to appear at the base of the windscreen.
I can email photos but have no idea how to convert them so they can be posted here.
The box was rebuilt 18 months back by Aspley Automatics and has done about 10000 k's.
When purchased, the car had done 73000 k,s and has now done 193000 so the wife has only done 120000 in 20 years.
Wheels are VR SS 16x8 in excellent condt with good tyres.
The interior is FE2 blue in very good condt and is a better blue than all the rest in my honest opinion.
Just an honest figure from so much to so much would be appreciated.
it would be nice to see some pictures. its hard really to give a figure without really going over it... but as stated in your post its quite straight and clean and mechanically sound.
if you said u can e-mail pictures u can add then to the thread simply by adding them to your gallery.
$2000-$3000 as a guesstimation
Detox
Thanks for the reply, I will take some pictures tomorrow and see if I can "add them to the gallery"
Bow Down
I thought others would think around 15 to 3000, It's registered to April 2012 so I will give it some thought and maybe try for $5500 with reg and Safety Cert, but I will still try to get some pics up.
As much as it would be a shame, I started working out yesterday what it would bring as parts, good driveline, really good FE2 interior, air con retrofitted for latest gas, v8 rear with discs, rear and side black internal rear venitians, body parts, wheels and tyres, etc and I am retired so I have plenty of time, I'm just not sure if I want to spend the time here or at the beach.
It appears I will not be able to advertise it here as I do not have 20 posts.
How do I write to the moderator for a change to that rule.
the rules cant be changed.
theres other sites you can advertise it on i will pm you with details.
as for stripping and selling sometimes it works well when you have a modified car with many after market modifications this worked well for me when i sold my vl i actualy made more then what i wanted for it complete in the end.
i can see you getting some ok money for venitians and diff.
the motor may be hard to sell as most people are going with the injected 304 or ls1 these days.
body parts are a dime a dozen.
in your case i would seriously just spend a few months tidying it up and then advertising with a r/w cirt
oh and by the way the 2000-3000 mark is what i would pay.theres always some one else out there willing to pay more.
Thanks again, there is really nothing to do, it is already tidy, I gave it the clay bar treatment 2 weeks ago and it is washed and cleaned usually once a fortnight and polished 2 to 3 time a year.
I will give it a lot of thought.
It would be sad to see an original gem stripped mate.
I think you're best to advertise it for the price YOU think it's worth.
As you said, you're an older fella and you have some time, therefore wait for a price that suits YOU.
No offence taken, quite polite compared to what I am called sometimes.
As for Subway that bird has flown.
I'll give the wife a few days to think about it, she has done this before and we still own it, I found each time she wanted to part with it I would clean it and give it what she thought was a little tune so first time out again, she would tell me how good it was going and decide to keep it.
Might clean it tomorrow and black the tyres again, that always has the desired effect.
Women, you cannot live with them, and you cannot live with them, and that was not a mistake.
10k? I would have sold it then and there lol. 5k might be a little far fetched. But It's hard to say without pics. That said a vl v8 thats original(ish) is harder to come by in good condition
Re Photos
Please help, I have photos in a photo bucket account now but I have tried to get them up here with no luck.
Copy and paste the photobucket links into this thread? or if you go advanced reply im pretty sure you can insert a html link under the little paper clip attacthment button
I would be asking more than 5.5k for that, I would start around 7k.
That does look pretty mint mate, but at the end of the day its only worth what someone is willing to pay. But if your in no rush like you said then i'd start probably around the 6 mark.
Thanks again for the replies, very much appreciated, I will put a note up here when it goes on the market.
I totally agree with RB26DETT, start at 7K and negotiate for 5.5 minimum........MINIMUM!
did anybody notice the front bumper is in excellent condition? one of the best I have seen on a VL.
I hate the wheels, BUT that is a personal thing.
could you please post the build plate numbers? so I/we can check out the option codes. I am confused about the FE2 interior as the FE2 denotes the suspension package, if you post the trim code I/we can tell you what it is.
oh yeah, if I had a lazy 6k that would be mine! no questions.
Nobody wants to play with me
Clean looking car mate, price it for what u see fit. You will gauge how much its worth after a while. Its whether u want to drop ur price.
Just so u know the rims are vs clubsport copies not genuine.
