Seeing as when you do the conversion it has the same block, would it be a problem getting through rego??
Pretty sure you have to re-register it as whatever it has in the car after all the work is done. I think if you did a, say, RB30 to RB30T conversion, you would have to re-register the car as having an RB30 Turbo Engine. If you had a car with an RB20DE and put a <Insert engine here> bottom end to make an RB75 or some shit, you'd have to re-register it as an RB75 or whatever you end up with.
You could always not tell them, making your Rego and Insurance cost less, but if you ever wrote your car off, you're screwed. Unless you do what my mate did, and pull everything out and put all the old stuff back in and say that's how it was when it was wrecked.
Disclaimer: I could be completely wrong, so don't hold me on it. Also, yes, RB75's exist. I had one in my fully sick Hyundai Excel, bro!

seeing as you are in the act you'll may need to get a engineers report for the conversion , but alternativel go and see your local motor registry and they direct you in the right direction, you can always go the rta and say you want to do a engine number swap and see how that goes,, i put an rb20 turbo in my calais some years ago i just got a mod plate (qld requirement) and then got the eninge number changed on my rego and all was sweet,
the pro i found with putting the smaller motor in because its displacement was smaller the std braking system was not required to be upgraded, not sure if that applies to you but the rta/engineers will tell what you will need to if anything
as to what 87rb30vl said most registration fees are based on the cylinders a car has not the litre's the engine has...but yes it may affect your insurance premium
if it doesn't have a lion in the badge it not worth having
if it is the same block and engine number, then you should be able to just re register as normal with no changes, if you have added a turbo or removed a turbo then you would need to get it engineered and change your rego.
I'm in s.a., you could always call your rego office and ask them, you won't need to tell your name and details just for an enquiry.
