    Default hydraullicked engine

I was trying to flush out the cooling system water on my 6cylVL and by mistake, ran water down a vacuum hose into the intake manifold, filling the cylinders so the engine was siezed
it grasdually dawned on me that I would have to remove all spark plugs and use starter motor to pump the water out

I wasnt looking forwARD TO THIS AS i HAD previously cross threaded a plug and shattered the ceramic part of another plug, some of it falling into the cylinder
I decided the spark plug socket was at fault, not allowing enough clearance and used a longer ordinary socket instead.removing each plug was done by pushing a length of rubber hose down the insulator. Ihad been told to get a socket wobble joint and this was essential for the 2 centre plugs. some talk of having to remove the air intake part nearby to get them out.

using a short length of fuel hose, I hand threaded each plug to ensure none were cross threaded, oiling each thread, it wouldnt start so I checked the air intake tubes and found 1 loose, this was stopping the airflow sensor from working and should always be suspected if engine wont run normally
it started first go, so now all is well
I am very sore from having to lean over the engine, I consider the VL 6 cyl a maddenly difficult engine to work on, eg to examine the timing belt, much needs to be removed to get the belt cover off. surely holden could have put in an inspection port im the cover.

luckily, none of the cylinders fired or a cyl with water in it may have been hydraullicked, causing perhaps a bent con rod

yes I gave it an oil change, more water in the sump than expected, dont quite know how it got down there

    any comments or advice

    Step 1: Find vacuum hose.
    Step 2: Remove hose.
Step 3: Replace with garden hose.
Step 4: Turn tap to full.
Step 3: Post problem on JustCommodores.
    Step 4: Profit.

RB30 would have to be one of the easier engines to do a timing belt on. Try doing an Alloytec. Think your head would explode.

makes no sense! what vac line is near the radiator filler or over flow hose? or were you trying to do some backyard home idea cooling system bleeding technique?
The RB30 would have to be one of the easiest EFI engines to work on EVER! and you can take the top half of the timing belt cover off pretty easily for inspection.

Sorry, I just don't get it.

I was trying to reverse flush the cooling system, unfortunately the rubber hose I put the garden hose into lead to the intake manifold

still cant figure out how so much water got into the sump, would it leak past the piston rings?

yes! they are oil rings, water is thinner than oil.
