hi guys,
this happened to me for the first time today.
i was driving along and i started to notice the car was shuddering unusually when i would take my foot off the accelerator. i thought this was abit weird so i tried just tapping the accelerator on and off seeing what it would do. this produced the same result for a few times but wouldnt be what i call regular ( like maybe every 3rd tap of the accelerator would do it).
eventually the car died and wouldnt start back up again. the engine would crank but it sounded like there was no spark. i checked all the fuses and they were sweet, i checked the coil and the dizzy aswell and they were all sweet too.
what makes it further interesting is that earlier in the day the right indicator connection started playing up and made the blinker go at double speed compared to the left indicator.....and the rear left speaker would cut in and out sometimes.
so im not sure if it has to do with maybe a earthing problem or the crank angle sensor is on the way out.
any advice or insight would be greatly appreciated![]()
thanks guys.
the indicator going at double speed means one of the globes has burnt out or you have a faulty earth on one
unsure about the shudder - maybe connected to the CAS
does the car have fuel- sorry had to ask - see if the pump is priming
does the car have spark when you kick it in the guts
yer its got like half a tank of fuel.
i'll have a good look at the fuel pump tomorrow to see if it does prime.
with the indicator the one that was going double speed fixed itself after a bumpy stretch of road so it must be not earthing somewhere.
when i kick it in the guts when trying to start it it still does nothing, no spark. but i did get it doing like 5 mins after it stalled and it didnt seem to idle very well so i had to constantly have my foot on the accelerator to keep the revs up.
sounds like your Crank Angle sensor they are a common fault in vl's
do a search you should find what your looking for
should not "pump throttle" while starting EFI cars man. if u get a backfire it can pop out the AFM hot wire in the VL.
but no spark is either CAS, power transistor, coil, or ECU..
give the CAS main plug a hit with some contact cleaner, or wd40/inox etc
