wats the ATI

ok ppl i have posted up sum thin about my alarm now i wanna kno if the alarm box is the box under the steering collom tht is labled ATI if ne one has a v6 1987 berlina can u check under there n tell me wat u have cos its meant to be were the fuse box is situated but thts in the engine bay so its ok...but in my bros VB his fuses r there...so if ne one has the same VL can u tell me wat is under ur steering collum were the fuse door is...thanx

if you mean the little box to the right of the steering collumn then im pretty sure that is the computer for the automatic transmission. that is if your car is auto. if not i dont have a clue.

vl's are straight 6's not v6's btw

so would u kno were one would put the alarm control box??

if its the factory system its right up above the glovebox under the crashpad
bugger of a thing to get to as well

I got a manual one... she has that little black box too.... my radiator also has automatic transmission lines!! but that could be because of the radiator being replaced at some stage.

ummm. you seem to have the same sort of set up as me!
its not the ati box thats for your auto transmission.
its situated somewhere around there... try pulling off the kicker panel on the right there some are in there but mine was actully above the ati just feel around abit buddy!
its a black box a little bit bigger then a ciggarette box you might be able to see a lil thin black wire coming out somewhere this is for the aerial type thing....

lay on your back and get a torch and look right in under there... its around!

just remembered... pull out those three black plastic screws dude!!

its like a sheet of plastic above your feet and covers all wires and crap.... its in there on the right hand side around that ati box unda the steering column

so in my case if that black box isnt needed at all because i dont have an automatic tranny and just in case its the wrong black box i didnt have a standard alarm.... would pulling it off maybe correct a few sensor problems or not benefit me at all in anway... and is the ATI box easily removed

SNY.30L yer well in mine i have 2 screws from below tht come off n u d/c it it has 1 or 2 plugs not sure if its the whole thing as one but i wouldnt go touching it if i was u unless it was originally auto n been converted well man if i was u id get it check im not a big mechanic im on jr home type play round person i don kno sterio systems n all but thts it...lol

SNY from what i understand the comment made fbythe bloke aboiut it been the auto computer goes both ways. the manual has the computer aswell... it runs your car, everything.... dont be touching it!
its a silver box too not a black one! im pretty sure its like a silver with a touch of gold or something in it looks weird..

but yeah the black box lying above it or around there somewhere is the alarm box i believe!! umm anfsvl sorry mate i might have ogne offline or something i just brush through the comments occasionally.

i was having a look today when i had light and as soon as you take off the panel there is a black box there decent size too, bit bigger then the size of a coffee mug!! couldnt see any markings on it just having a quick look at work.

ill do a bit of tinkering this weekend hopefully... ill keep ya posted if i figure out what my lil black box is

yer i noticed tht black box too stock_vl but it has a batch numba on it n it says GM on it so im guessing its stock installed so i dotn think its the alarm cos the alarm in the vl tht came stock was a cobra i think my mate said but wat would he kno his in to the ricers...lol thanx guys
