    Talking What to do first with my vl to get it going quicker

    Hi guys,
    Im looking for help on my vl i dont know what the first step is to take in doing it up I have allready had a full service done
    and dont know what to do next, it is a stock 1986 vl executive, if use can help that would be GREAT cheers

    hey man and welcome to JC

    first thing you do is a search as this is covered so many times.. there is massive amounts of information on here going on about the VL commo and all troubleshooting.

    Short of some sort of forced induction you are wasting your time and $$$. Cut your losses and buy something with a LS in it.

    turbo conversion if your on your not on p's
    if you are on p's buy a stock turbo motor, build that up, when you get your fulls, put the turbo engine in and have some fun,
    bottom line, its not worth buying perfomance mods to a standard 6cyl. keep it serviced and running well and thats all you can really do.

    And definitely take the underlay out of the boot (under the carpet)

    cause that shit will rust up your boot when it starts leaking from the rain

    Is it an auto or manual? If its an auto and you are mechanically minded i would say convert it to manual. Tint the windows if they aren't already, get some nice wheels lower it and keep it tidy. When i got my first VL which was also my first car i pulled the auto box out and converted it to manual got the windows tinted, new mags, lowered it, installed central locking, sports steering wheel and a stereo system. some things are more expensive then others so it depends how much money you have to spend really.

    Sorry i didn't read the title properly, thought you meant do it up over all.

    Do what I did and make it look cool. Midnight Express on the windows, lowered, 17's, if it looks cool it gives the illusion that it goes faster. Also get a standard K&N Panel Filter for about $100, better than a pod IMO, also maybe some injector cleaner as well?

    The vl is an auto I have put interceptors with dress trims on and caps on with 245s on the rear and 215 on the front is already low and needs a new paint job and the little bit of rust in the rear boot just under windscreen need's a bit of love but look wise I'm happy with were it is atm just looking for speed and handling and not to keen on tinting the
    windows. have put a wood grain sports steering wheel in

    I really don't think you get any extra power from a K and N panel filter, they are reusable though which is good.

    And yes im on my ps but it isnt my day car i have an au xr8 for my wrk ute so i dont drive the vl all day every day as it has low ks and the cops were i live hate them and go out of their way to put em of the road stuff em i say they just hate that they dont have one hahah

    havnt had any problems yet and have had it 6 mth's its stock and without ps up and not driving like a dick i dont draw any attention to myself but if it was the vl id be up shit creek i got pulled over in the first day i had it so i stick with the 8 and im off ps in Nov anyway
