Im figuring I have a problem with my alternator- my battery went flat a couple of days ago so I bought a new one but its not recharging itself. Ive disconnected my amp, subs and interior light so I dont drain any more power, but ive been having to put it on charge every day so that it starts.
I want to dismantle it myself cos ive had a bad experience with mechanics in the past, and all the work ive done on my car ive done myself. Im still learning about the engine though- I know the basics but i just dont know how to get the alternator out. Can anyone explain to me how?
a friend of mine had a problem with his vl once, similar to yours, in the end, he found out his bootlight wasnt turning off. have you checked that? but aside from that, the alternator isnt that hard to remove at home, but you have to get it to an auto electrician to fix her up. ask around and find a good auto leccy and he will put the multimeter over it to ensure that it is your alternator causing you troubles. PM me if you have any queries....
its really basic.. jus have a go n u'l surprise urself.. i changed my engine.. for the first time n had no idea wot i was doing.. in the end.. i got it all done.. wot area u from? i mite know sum1 who can help u out
I wonder what those scales on the top right side of my posts do...
Just take it to a sparkie...He will have a look at it for you (normally for free)
He will tell you if the alternator is stuffed or not...
Then it's up to you ..You decide to let him fix it or replace it yourself...
geez, finding that the boot light was still on, how did he find that out?
