usual jatco should be ok. they take a bit to kill. v8s use a supra 5 spd for added strength.

    Jatco is an automatic gearbox.

    MX7 is the Turbo 5speed.

If he wants something stronger, I suggest an R33 5 speed.

IMHO i think autos are better for turbos because it means you can never catch the engine "off boost" you simply plant it and it kicks down and off you go again, and it also softens the power abit which helps the ET

shit my bad.... long hours atm. jatco is the auto.

still, the standard 5 spd is strong enough to handle mild mods.

Yeah, the mf5 will handle a bit of power so long as you treat it with respect. Considering its basically the same as the rb20det box from the skylines.

I'd recommend upgrading to the r33 box. Alot of people are trying to sell the mx7's for way way too much of late. Prices upwards of 2k for the box alone, which is good, its a good box, but parts are rare as hell for them and the r33 box is alot newer and stronger. For the r33 conversion you need the r33 box, anywhere from 800-1500 - and then the rest of the mf5 conversion parts.

Yeah Auto's are good with turbo's. You don't lose your boost becasue your not closing the throttle. However.. Its personal preference, I hate autos because no matter how 'manual' you make an automatic box. Theres still no substitute for playing with a clutch.
