Thumbs up How Many KM's has ur VL done?

I have a 1988, red five speed with the RB30 motor runout VL commodore which has done about 500000km (the tacho stopped at 247000 bout 10 years back). Its the original motor (bugga all work done to it) and the Gear box bearings have just shat emselves for the second time (first time at around the 250 mark). I just parked her in the shed (gunna fix the gear box next year) and purchased a 2002 VY series 1. hmm I'm thinkin bout personalised numba plates "MSMYVL."

i bought an exec in 2003 with 93000 genuine, i put it up to 125000 before selling it early this year. 204000 on the one we have now and it goes a lot better than low k's ever did. they usually go well till about 250000 then the problems start creeping in

well mines done a lil over 330000 and was makin a funny noise which started a few days ago. ive replaced a couple of lil things round the car recently, but when i took it in yesterday, the guy tells me the main bearings might need replacing, theres bits of metal in the oil. also, the water pump bearings are slowly dieng, and the lifters are makin a strange noise. NOT HAPPY! any suggestions? would a second hand motor with less km's cost less than fixing this one?

    Question

yeh i have a vl berlina, and just recently the gearbox has been making a rattling sound. Someone told me that it is the gearbox bearings which i think it is, can you tell me how much that would cost to fix and what would possibly happen if i dont get it fixed straight away!!

    585000+ clicks
    original motor
    gearbox starting to falter
still purs like a newer car
probably have replaced everything that is replaceable except the motor
head has never blown ......touch wood

But the kids have their toll on the interior
And the SUN has taken most the paint back to the metal
    Not much rust....only surface

    but she's roadworthy
    Love that car............

    I was on 165,000ish.

New one I wouldn't know its true km's as its on a second motor and I've ripped the dash out anyways, so I'm trying to get the dash reset to 0.
