Yes, it may be a silly question, but I have had massive problems with fuel consumption for past 6-9 months & because I am a mature age IT student I dont have a never ending wallet full of money to fix it.
After some very stressful times with different mechanics giving me different ideas and trying different things like coolant temp sensor & fuel regulator (found not to be the cause & therefore not fitted & therefore saved me $300) a great mechanic in Booragoon found the problem to be Throttle Position sensor.
This mechanic was brilliant and thoughly tested car and adjusted TPS and rest ignition timing recheck.
This was done today so I will see how I go now with fuel consumption, previous 9 months 315K's per tank.
So Ive listed the basics of whats been done and found, I know nothing about cars so can someone explain what he did etc, how much fuel per tank in Kms I should be getting ( i only drive moderately) and how big my tank is.
TY IN ADVANCE
About 400ks.

They hold about 65 litres, mine used to get about 11L/100Km in the mountains. would get about 500-550k's on the highway, about 450 around town and about 130 arond a race track :-)
Vl's are the biggest fuel guzzelers around imo

vl's infact are one of the better commodores on fuel compared to say a vt-vx model
so what does this mean please
test air mass meter pass, test oxygen sensor function pass, test engine ECM control of fuel mixture pass, check ignition timing found incorrect caused by incorrectly set throttle position sensor adjust tps and reset ignition timing recheck mixture control at ECM pass, road test pass.
