I'm in the middle of scrapping a VL for parts and went to pull the 5 speed box out of it yesterday but the tail shaft seems to be stuck on at the diff, not sure what is causing it i only had it out a few weeks ago and had no problems. anyone have any ideas? all the bolts are out it just doesn't want to move, what am i missing here?
Hit it with a hammer.
If the CV joint is rooted it may be locked up and not allowing you to pull the tailshaft away from the diff. Id have a look at the CV joint end and try and get to moving. Failing all that just unbolt the centre bearing and as NPreston said, hit it with a hammer
regardless of the uni.. it will come off providing all bolts are out... so as stated.... "When in doubt, Give it a clout
I thought the same but gave it a good hit with the hammer before i made the thread and tried to pry it apart, it's like the damn thing is welded on. Anyhow i will just takes it off at the centre bearing tomorrow.
theres just 4 bolts and it is 2 flat plates bolted together so unless its jammed full of sickaflex i don't see why it woyuldn't come off unless it was just jammed on there. hammer would be my call.
