oi my car was doing the same thing aye, it will kick over but will refuse to idle, and ill have to have my foot flat to keep the revs up at least above 200rpm
I have full tank of 98 fuel, new fuel pump, new filter, new leads, new plugs, new injectors, new pod filter, afm is fine im pretty sure, o2 sensor was done when i put my extractors on, no cat lol
Still nothing, i did the fuel reg....then it ran like a dream and fyred 2 17"s faster then ever before lol

dont touch the throttle on an injected car when starting... it can backfire and blow out ur hotwire inside the AFM... then u have ur problems.

how u know afm is fine... they r temperamental things man..

    what test were performed?
have u inspected the thin hair like wire in the tunnel of it is intact?

Another thing to check is the temp sensor for the ecu, mine was a bitch to start in the mornings and wouldn't idle etc. Turned out the terminals were corroded and the computer thought it was minus forty degree's and would richen the the mixture to compensate.

Funny, my car primes fuel on startup but doesn't automatically cut out before I start the engine, and now sometimes when I start it, the idle is at like 100 & the engine warning lights flicker on as if it's trying to stall, then I drive away for a bit and it's fine, so we may have the same problem regarding the regulator.

And yes, I do mean 100, not 1000 as it idles pretty much on the brink of stalling.
