rust around rear wagon window

I have this common problem but the window surround stops me getting at the rust

is there any way of removing the window surround so that it can be later replaced?

its said that on the assembly line, the front and rear window surrounds were left in bare metal with no rust protection

I don't know much about the wagons, but are you talking about the seals? Throw up a picture so we can see the problem areas.

if you can remove the seals, fix the rust, you can buy new seals from rare spares I think, and also ebay have them.

push out the window with your feet and then when you have all of the rust fixed up take it to a window mob like windscreens obrien. they will fit a new bailey's channel rubber which is that rubber seal around the tailgate. otherwise if you mean the plastic skirts that go on either side they are just sickaflexed on. use a paint scraper, a long sharp knife or a screwdriver and cut / pry them off. you can put them back on or use a vb/c/h/k style wagon tailgate window seal which doesn't have the dress moulds, just a long seal all around it.
