From my knowledge, no, you can't swap the stuff from a drum diff to a disc diff or vice versa, well, maybe the diff center? But not the axles I don't think

VN onwards are 28 spline. U can fit a VN duff in a vl if you only have stockies. But if you have wide wheels it won't fit.

i have done a bit of research on this stuff. the vl drums are 25 spline and the vl discs are 28 spline. the axles from a drum wont fit into a disc brake set up. I have drums on the rear of my vl and have been trying to find a vl disc diff to put on the rear as i currently have 19's on my rear

why not put the drum diff into vl and then put your disks on that?

Do this ^. The only vl's with 28 spline axles are V8's and turbo's. even then they werent all optioned with lsd. The drum brake axles are the same as disc brake axles they just have drum brake shit bolted on. you can transfer all your disc stuff onto whatever housing and use any na 25 spline axles with any na 25 spline centre whether is be lsd or non lsd.

I have a vl turbo diff that consists of a na diff housing, vl turbo 28 spline axles, vl turbo lsd and 3.45 diff gears out of a na vl.

If you have a VL drum diff that is 25 spline it will have the same axles as a disc one with 25 splines, but the axle seal is different ( due to difference in backing plate thickness between disc and drums) so to put a drum 25 spline axle into your disc VL you need to go and buy a wheel bearing kit to suit a 6cyl non turbo with disc brakes and they give you the right one.

if your diff is a standard n/a it will be 25 spline.
it will only be 28 spline if it is a turbo or v8.

if the diff has been modified or swapped it could be either.

vn ups are all 28 so you can use the centres but not the axles as the axles are longer.
vl 25 spline axles should only be worth scrap metal money tbh.
for future referrence everyone thinks you can't get spools or lsd'ds for 25 splines. you can they are from the same era falcon's as they ran 25 spline borg warners aswell.

also re' the drum side of things this guy is correct

If you have a VL drum diff that is 25 spline it will have the same axles as a disc one with 25 splines, but the axle seal is different ( due to difference in backing plate thickness between disc and drums) so to put a drum 25 spline axle into your disc VL you need to go and buy a wheel bearing kit to suit a 6cyl non turbo with disc brakes and they give you the right one.
you cvan check your diff tag and therefore internals / gears / etc on this web link - Differentials - ALL you need to know - calaisturbo.com.au
