Hi guys, I'm tight for cash and need to sell my VL, but before I advertise it I would like to know how much it's worth.
This is my ad -
1986 Holden VL Commodore Berlina Sedan
Automatic RB30E Non turbo
It has had all new suspension, bushes, swing arms, tie rods done about 2 years ago
gearbox was reconditioned bout 3 years ago but the car has only been driven for about 3 months since that due to engine blowing up and not having money at that time to replace it.
The good-
interior is neat
serviced 500k's ago
Lowered King Springs on rear (not sure about front)
The bad-
replacement engine runs rich (i think it's air flow metre) but other then that it starts fine and really quickly.
Needs new front windscreen.
Needs new tires
Paints not the best
Rust around boot (will need some to be grinded out and welded new plates in which i have rust free ones that I haven't had time to weld in but will supply them.
Unregistered but isn't too hard to get registered.
Would suit respray and rebuild or just fixing up and being a daily driver.
Perfect P plater car as it has the style and is a great first car to learn in.
Looking at the pics, if I were to buy that for my son/daughter, I'd offer less than a grand probably, maybe $1,000 - 1200 depending on how good you can clean it up before advertising.
My reasoning is this:
It's got P plates. No offence but I was on P's once with an S13 Nissan Silvia.
How many K's has it done?
It's an auto (they're cheaper than manuals).
The previous engine blew up.
Interior looks pretty daggy.
Paint's faded, boot rust, needs AFM, needs new windscreen, needs new tyres...
No offence, but it sounds like a typical VL that's had the nuts thrashed off it. I think this, cos' I looked at alot before I bought mine, and even mine's been driven hard and it's in really good condition.
Roses are red, Voilets are blue, I let off the gas & hear tsutututu!

As is 500 it's only a VL and a very undesirable model.
Welcome to the internet where people have opinions that you might not like
Depends on who you talk to, some people go nuts for a VL.
Definitely clean your interior up, ita crazy seeing how many fools advertise their car with dirty interiors, makes it look like it hasn't been looked after and lowers the value substantially.
Dont sell with pics of it apart, remove that rear sticker as it just screams "skid rig"; and lets face it, very few people want a car that's had the arse thrashed out of it.
mate its real rough. i would be happy with $800 sorry but its a real shitter
looks like a skid pig with stockies. make more coin parting it out. tbh.,. but can u b bothered
with no reg or rwc and in that condition its not worth a lot. there is a bit of cash to get it roady but a new windscreen and tyres aren't the real issue. the issue is even r/w it still presents as a dunger (whether or not it is)
broken moulds, bad 2 tone paint job and the black painted dash all scream beyond worth saving to me. to get it clean means a pauintjob, a dash replacement at the least. i'd rather spend 3g on a clean original one where you can cut and polish the paint to a decent standard and not have to purchase and replace the dash. if i were to buy it it would have to be at a price worth the effort and financial input, or be at a price where i would strip it and be willing to sit on the parts for quite a long time as there don't seem to be andy quick moving (e.g. turbo or calais) parts on it.
Chaching above guy is on the money.
Evan to scrap it you wont make 3-400
Shame you're not in Vic. I've got $50 burning a hole in my pocket you could of had
500 for the lot with P Plates i would.
pushing $400 and it could have rust everyone. and more then likely a cut parcel shelf witch is pricey to fix for rwc
cheers!
i stripped a clean manual sl which had been smashed. i purchased it at 500, sold heaps and within 2 months had a complete 5spd conversion, a 180*** km virgin bore s2 engine, very healthy, and a stack of extra bits and pieces leftover. and i'd made my money back. I'd love to do it again, good learning process but if i hadn't given a ton of the parts away when i moved house i'd still be sitting on the spare parts.
like your walky do u have any interest in a walky engine
Half a bag of doretoes and a bottle of coke... it would make a great fire pit.
