    Smile My LE 87 rb30 VL :)

hi guys, bought this as a project to do up and so far i have done very little to it apart from cleaning it up, when i got it the paint was very faded and had no shine at all, the interior was filthy and the engine was covered in dirt and grime, after a buff, degreasing the engine bay 3-4 times and ages cleaning the interior with the seats out and carpet out, i think its come up pretty good

its an 87 Limited edition vl in all original spec apart from the sound system, has about 200xxxkms and is auto, no rust what so ever anywhere, only thing i could pick on was an engine oil leak which i think comes from the rocker cover as its only after i run the engine and theres oil coming from around it.

edit: thought id add the spec, easeir to read the first post to see whats done

engine: stock apart from thicker leads and timing forward to run on premium.
    tranny: stock
    diff : stock single pegger
    suspension: stock
engine : stock, soon to be turbo
    exhaust: stock
    interior: stock
ICE: jvc headunit, random front splits, JVC 6x9's on a custom parcel shelf.
    exterior: stock

    future plans:
my plans are to turbo it and keep it original, only thing un-original will be a front mount if i decide to run more boost (which everyone does LOL), and make it look abit nicer n the outside but keeping it 95% stock.

heres some photos, and ill get some engine bay, and interior photos soon , and then hopefully some progress pics later on as i work the motor

87rb thats a nice ride!! looks tough with the black, and the plates are going, rego ran out a week ago, going to get some nice slim ones.

i was thinking of going silver bumpers and trims, any thoughts??

and rims are on the end of my list atm, they have good tread so ill end up frying them when i get more power anyway :P

Thanks Yeah I was going to go silver trim & bumpers but my bro convinced me to stay with the black/maroon theme lol.

Silver bumpers/trim look good, but it kind of depends on the base colour of the car, also heaps of people go "hoon car!" if they see a VL with silver trims haha but it's kind of common knowlege that VL's usually have silver trim.

And wheels make so much difference, mine's got lowered springs, standard shocks and chucking on some 17's tops it off! Here's mine, but these are the stock silver [Mine are 17 inch, 235/45's:

im going to clean it up even more, the front right guard i need to get sprayed, get rid of some dints, make it look imac then wack a turbo on or rwc, whatever comes first cause it worse comes to worst ill be able to take the turbo off and go for roady then fit it again.

after that ill start fiddling with looks

Sounds like you have a good plan setup for this beast, keep us posted, take pics of EVERYTHING!! I'd be interested if you document your turbo conversion, give me more incentive to do it to mine hahaha I know people on here want me to just do it already!

Lol oops :P Pretty sure you need a timing light now otherwise you'll run into timing issues, though when I did my CAS, my mate pulled the whole dizzy out, and changed the cas, then put it all back in the way he had it sitting on the floor and I've had no troubles or pinging, but once you forget which way it was, your best bet is to use a light, that way you can make the engine even better by making sure it's exactly right!

Is your motor a series 1 or 2? As in, do you know if it has the holes for the oil feed lines and shit for when you turbo it in the block?

I hate you!! Mine's only a series 1, but I looked at so many and they were all shit, so I had to settle with second best, well, I settled for the dog's leftovers, Auto, non turbo Executive

The only reason I haven't turbo'd mine is that heaps of people who have converted theirs say "You have to do this, this, and this and bam there you go" but then other's who also converted say "nah man you need this, this, this, this, few of these, this this and maybe this, oh and this and this" and something that can be done for $800 by Joe Blow, becomes a $1,500 thing for Joe Doe.
