This seems like a suitable place to ask. I have had some cream berlina trims for a while now. I just got off my ass and found some armrests but they are blue. whats the best way to colour them? is there such a paint for it ( wouldnt it crack) or would i need to dye them?

Vinyl dye is amazing stuff.. I've seen some VL arm rests done with the stuff, good results.. just make sure to prepare the surface first by cleaning it really well and applying lots of small coats rather than two or three massive coats..

Here's some stuff I've done with it (non car related)

Can you get the specific colour or am I just going to have to do with a generic cream? can you get it from anywhere like Repco or need to go to a special paint store?

I seen a cream colour vinyl dye at supercheap auto was about $15 or so, It doesn't crack because its like a rubbery stuff (the paint/dye) I did my armrests white (was bored with beige)

should you put a certain spray down first to help the paint adhere or not?

Nah just give it a good clean and let it dry and then you are ready to paint. it might be a good idea to do them white first to help the tan come out a bit better on the blue. I am gonna do my whole dash white one day (on the tan parts)

how long would it take for the paint to wear off with your arm resting on it? i just did my kick panels and some paint scratched off reinstalling them. if it lasted a while on the doors i might do it myself until i find some berlina trims.

well it hasn't scratched off yet, i let them dry in the sun for 2 hours before reinstalling them, and i do rest my arm on them i am guilty of that but it sticks to vynil really well its like it puts another layer of vynil on top if ya know what i mean
