    Default Head job

My head blew.... again in the same spot it blew the first time which is right near my girlfriends place.

The funny thing is though when it first blew i found out a lot of things about the car and the bloke i bought the car of. My vl turbo (originally) was a bolt on job running high comp pistons with no computer or fuel upgrade or a turbo head or anything for that matter, id only had it for 2 weeks.

So at the servo i managed to push the car to (with help) it stayed to have a lot of work done to it. a Fuel system upgrade, forged pistons, re-bored, new computer, vl turbo head.... etc. I was told the car would be bullet proof and 3 months and 3,000km's down the road its gone again!!

i want to keep it but i think its cursed!

    lol!!!

bad news on that, Mechanics that did the work are trying to screw me around... sayin they cant fix it under warranty because it was a boost problem but its their fault it ****ed up still because it was a line they fitted.

6-8 weeks for something to go through the department of fair trading MVIRA motor vehicle repair association.... i feel like ive been kicked in the guts its absolute crap. They tried to tell me that they fitted forged pistons without removing the exhaust manifold from the engine bay and turbo and turbo lines when it clearly states on the invoice that turbo was removed, turbo gaskets and turbo lines replaced.

are you familiar with the bleeder bolts and the steam trap that forms if they arent undone on refilling the engine cooling system ?
this overheating is a common cause of head problems on the VL 6

Quite common. I cant see how it is your responsibilty to bleed the cooling system! If a mechanic redone the head, Did he put water in it? If so, where is the water going?Did he bleed the cooling system? I can ubnderstand that it would be your job to regularly check the fluid levels, but if i paid good hard folding stuff to someone else, that would be part of the service. Perhaps i expect too much! Why did they replace the lines?

sorry guys havnt been on for a while... have a few updates to note on this topic though

No. 1 - If your anywhere in Bankstown and find yourself near a garage called Birrong Automotive please either stop and tell him that they are dodgy mechanics and take no pride in their work at all or feel free to throw a brick through their window

No. 2 - This issue is going to a tribunal hearing which i should probably organise today sometime... its $50 to have the matter heard and well worth it... I had an engineer come out today to assess the car and the findings were shocking. Bolts on the exhaust manifold have been left loose and in some cases off... there is a support bolt on the head thats missing and there is oil coming out of every orifice Lines to the turbo havnt been secured properly and a majorly pissed off owner

No. 3 - I could be really screwed. By rights i should have all the money i forked out for the work to be done returned to me but they've changed their abn number since work was done.... this screws me right over.... legally they can say its a different company now and they wont pay for anything.

In spite of all this im now thinking about ditching the RB30 and going for an RB25 if i do that then ill probably get around to figuring the dash out at the same time....
