coastvl, yeh you beat me to it, pull the choke out a bit, lol. Remindes me of the old days.
When I got my vl off my brother, there was one of the crank angle sensor wires "2nd wire from the front of the car from memory" on the transistor besides the distributor just hanging there. That made it run quite erratic, so maybe that's an option too. lol.
Just joking! - Don't do it!!!!!!
Cheers!
Jim.

im really impressed by the power range somthing like 1600-6800 rpm or somthing, hes doing cam and coil spings all for $550
valve springs*
ive bought and installed the CT 503 517 and its lumpy, real lumpy and it runs like an absolute pig. ive been told that its a fairly smooth cam, what do i do?
Has it been tuned?

if you fit a cam that's aggressive enough to make the idle lumpy, then it's probably going to end up being a gutless pig. Compression is all wrong on a stock engine for a big cam and then there's the tune...
You really can only afford to go with a very mild cam upgrade on a stock bottom end. Anything bigger and you will also need to get the tune somehow adjusted. I don't know much about the RB30 ECU's, but I know you can't just throw in a memcal or flash tune them.
camtech told me its not a wild cam and that i had to upgrade nothing but valve springs, im getting it timed tommorrow, hope that that helps
on an NA its useless man save ur bucks... u will get used to it in no time and then go
"Aww my vl is slow again" which N/A's are.. gather turbo bits and have fun with that...
any cam place will say its useless to do it on an N/A
most likely the timing if anything.
detox_nath83 i know its fairly pointless but my old cam was worn to the shithouse, had chunks and shit outta it so i figured why not upgrade, plus im on my ps so i cant turbo it, when i get my fulls ive got a worked v8 out of my dads holden brougham ready to slap in the vl
fair call.....
lean out your idle a lot, that'll make it lumpy. But if you want to do even a half assed job, get a cam, they're fairly cheap and very easy to install, I'm sure one of your mates has a torque wrench
