Default HELP! VT twin piston brake upgrade on VL

    Guys,

I need help! I want to put a VT twin piston front brake upgrade on a VL but im not sure how to go about it, all of my cars have been of the VR/VS generation which makes the upgrade very easy, but with it being the full assembly on a VL it makes life more complicated, do I need to convert the whole front to a VR/VS type setup or should I use VN/VP front hubs with rotars etc and just bolt the calipers on? Or am I better off not doing it??

I'm really stuck and any advice would be great!

about 2 years ago I done the VT twin piston caliper brake upgrade on the front of my VS. I basically had to use a VT master cylinder whilst retaining the reservoir on top of it. You can get VT front discs and then get an egg-ring spacer to take up the 1.1mm slack or so on your standard front wheel hubs. From memory they were around $40 from race brakes sydney. Eventually, I ended up just forking out for genuine VT front calipers and hubs as my front wheel bearings were shot. Was a better option IMO. From memory though, with the VL commodore you may have to get some sort of adaptor kit for the fluid lines to fit up the new calipers to the old system. Was the upgrade worth it to me? Hell yes! Braking time was drastically reduced and it was a hell of a lot safer to drive in the wet and dry. Braking times were significantly reduced.

With my VL "Currently off the road with head removed due to finding 8 snapped exhaust studs and waiting for cam regrind!", I reckon I'll just put on these old VLT calipers that I have with new seals and pads until I get everything else done on it, convert to a small t3 turbo setup and then consider doing the brake upgrade.

    Cheers!
    Jim.
