smelly air con

i am having probs with my air con when i turn it on there is abad smell coming out of it eny ideas thanks

they can smell damp when they have been sitting for a long time.

its a really strang smell ,i work on the garbage ,and i re ally dont know what the smell is , i had the air con serviced 2 yr ago , and since then this strange smell ,i think i will pull the aIR CON BOx
APRart and see what the go is got me ???????

mine sometime has a strange smell for 1 minute or so when i first have it on, or when its on hot !

Maybe cause you haven't used it for a few months..
During Winter you should turn it on every now & then
just to keep the seals in tact..
Or Oily smell could be the compressor on it's way out....

Sometimes you can get 'sick car' syndrome in which things grow and then die on the surfaces of the heat exchanger under the dash. You either have to treat it with a disinfectant- commonly available at some car places, or kill all the bugs by drying them out on full heat and then making sure you keep it dry inside the box from time to time

Make sure your drain is clear, and i think there is a spray you can spray into the air intake to disinfect the evaporator and heater core.
