Hey there thinking about upgrading my camshaft to a more performance one. Who would be the best person to go through and what sort of camshaft would be better for my Vl.
Are you after the info for an RB30? Is it turbo or NA?
Wade cams is pretty good. Reliable and quick service. I ended up taking the head off my recently received VL after finding broke exhaust studs while I was about to fit new extractors, so I thought it'd be a good idea to get something done about the cam "as well as all water hoses" while the cylinder head was off. Currently getting my stock RB30 cam reground to GTS1 spec. Cost is $150 retail plus return freight. Just an example of what I'm doing, but for you you may want something different altogether. Also, I just find a regrind a lot cheaper than replacing the whole billet. It's not necessarily the better option. GTS1 cam is fine for general driving around and good power/towing cam. GTS2 has power on the higher end but looking at the profiling would be a good option if you go turbo due to its wide exhaust degreeing.
Really just depends on you, what you're wanting to put it into, performance mods and what you're after as far as a powerband/performance goes.
Cheers!
Jim.
if its N/A would not bother.. turbo the cams are endless :P
You'd be amazed what a little bit of valve lift will do for ya' though!
I've just got my old cam reground "to #876" from Wade Cams. Total cost + return freight to tassie was $154 for anyone wanting to know! Not the best option doing a regrind, but relatively cheap for its gains nonetheless! But is certainly cheaper than doing exhaust & extractors per Kw of output "Hi-Tech Extractors & 2-1/2 catback cost me $575, and fitted myself".
hey i have a vl A6 motor in my genuine vl turbo however i was wondering what cam you think would suit a setup thats going to be running probably 10-12psi maybe 15psi down the track ? sorry to tap into your thread mate but it saves starting a complete new one ey.
Modifying a car is like a drug once you start you cannot stop
Holdens if your not in one your behind one
No probs M3ZZA,
I'd go with the common TX1 cam "or mild turbo cam" myself as it's a good commonly used cam. Personally though "and just to be sure and safe", i'd get onto wade cams and let them know detailed specs about your car and engine build and what you want out of the cam and they'll be glad to let you know what'd be good for it. Could possibly even get a regrind done and save some coin while you're at it....
Cheers!
Jim.
