what i have done is fully rebuild the RB30 engine and i took the oil pump apart and cleaned it then filled it with oil and put it all back together and put the rest of the engine together and put the engine back in the car and it ended up with the engine sitting there for about a month and now the oil has drained out of the oil pump and when it come time to try and start the engine i took the spark plugs out and the fuse for the fuel pump and turned the engine over and there is no oil being sucked up throw the oil pump so what do i do
is the pickup in the sump ok? There are usually plugs on engine blocks that you hook an oil line to and manually pump oil through to lubricate the engine so you aren't cranking it over dry. Pour a little over the valve train too. it'll atleast stop damage until you work out if the pump is stuffed. Why did you need to rebuild the engine? Did it fry due to lack of oil?
to prime an oil pump just put oil all over it thats what i did and mine is going fine
if you couldn't be bothered to take much off then take the oil pressure switch/sender out and get a oil can and squirt it down the hole towards the pump.....then crank it over and that should do it
Click the scales.....you know you want to!!!!
once had a new oil pump , well known brand and yes followed the instructions to the letter and no oil pressure on a new engine![]()
We tried every trick and no it didn't want to knowwell engine out again

and this time put some grease between the pump gears, all back in 2nd time
turn the key and nearly instant oil pressure
and now do it on all oil pumps because it aint no fun doing it twice!!!
And not to mention running a engine with no oil pressure..
I was confused now I'm just not so sure!!
