hey guys im having trouble closing my bonnet and noticed the release spring is sitting in the middle where it should be sitting to the far left. any know what could cause this. spring stuffed ???

Replace your bonnet cable [they come with the handle], and also jam a screw driver down there when the bonnet release is pulled, then let go of the release and check where the spring sits, because me and my dad got my bonnet stuck down due to stuffing with the spring, and we ended up bending the metal thing [in your pic] into more of a curved shape and it fixed it. We also got a new release cable because my old handle was snapped so it wasn't pulling all the way

hey guys just replaced the cable today. because i forced the bonnet shut yesterday and just to open it and snapped the cable
with the angle in your pic i wouldn't try to straighten that, it's already weak if it's bent to 45 degrees, maybe check other model to see if they're compatible if you can't get a vl one.
so your saying is replace it ? . im pretty sure there under $20 new.
yeah the actual mechanism you have pictured, compare the angles to the pic i posted, didn't know they were that cheap, never had to replace one.
be quite annoying if you straightened it and it snapped a day or 2 later, be there for a while trying to open the bonnet then.....
yep lol. the only pain is i have to remove the nose cone to replace it
haha yep... i snapped my cable on sunday lol.. got one coming from perth as nobody could get one for me from the usual shops.. so i have the old cable hanging out the bonet as a manual release lol...works gr8
haha nice. i bought mine from rarespares $51
shouldn't need to remove the nose cone, maybe the grill, should be quite accessible from underneath behind the bumper, couldn't see the ac condenser in your pic so even just pull the radiator out for access (if you don't have ac that is)
hmm ive got the rad out at the moment and yup no a/c ill try get it out without removing the nosecone
haha $45 from perth... Ebay.. Winning......
well put a new spring in it today and same thing.
well ive managed to keep the spring in the correct spot. but when i close the bonnet. the spring and pin isnt sitting centre in the rad support
thats weird man,,, it should sit offset. can u bend it slightly to sit to the outter edge ?
and u installed it correctly?
the grove isn't damaged from the bent/damaged one? allowing the replacement to sit to far into the center
well after a lot of mucking around with the pin on the bonnet. its closing and opening perfect. thanks for all the help guys
nice work man good too c all sorted
