    Default 10mm spanner useful

it helps to keep a 10mm spanner in the car for the 6cyl
this fits the bleeder bolts to avoid the dreaded steam trap problem if you get a coolimg system leak in the middle of nowhere
also it fits the battery terminal bolts

I wouldn't use a shifter on the bleeder bolts, trust me dont do it you'll shear it, as I did and it was a pain to get off trust me!! The bolts are really soft metal.

the bolts do get stuck and shear easily, might be an idea to try unscrewing them gently and if OK, undo them and coat the threads with grease, or perhaps graphite powder

I beg to differ vlv8vic, have had bad experiences on my cars with a kingchrome shifter. I only use the right size ring spanners now or sockets.

crikey!!! what would i know. i lie evertime i say i have fixed something on my car, i really pay someone to do it. i dont even own a hammer or spanner or what ever the new fangled things are called. lol

In all seriousness though I 'personally' have never had an incident with a shifter.
I would much rather use a socket or ring spanner. My original point however, was that a shifter may be more useful to carry in the car, as opposed to my $1500 tool chest.

good point vlv8vic. If you use the shifty shifter correctly, that is with fixed section on the thrust side, shouln't have problems

don't need a whole toolchest for vl's i find 10mm 12mm and 14mm are the most useful and a shifter just incase lol and screwdrivers.

I carry nothing but a subscription to RACQ.

However unless your planning on doing a lot of inner city driving I don't think its that necessary you bleed your car every time you refill it. Yes its important. But I went for weeks with a pocket in there because of a coolant leak. I was mindful of it and no troubles whatsoever.
