Boot release fix???
i can open my boot with my keys but the boot release in the glove box dosnt work, i think i can hear it doing something though abck their but whatever it is its not opening the boot lol.
any help?
not that its much help but to open it. if you have 2 ppl. get the other guy to push down on the boot whilst you press the button. should pop up. from that you might be able to work out the problem. i dont really know how the catch works so i cant think of why it would do that. mine does the same. but occasioanlly it opens normally form the button

hmm i might give this ago, maby it can be tentioned. is it a system of electrics or mini cylinders?? might help me to work out how to fix the bugga. i have ready the thread in the everything u need to know btu and people with the same or similar problem but no one has realy explaned how it works or what goes rong or how to fix it. im guessing atleast someone has come across and solved this problem whcih is obviously atleast a lil bit common
my guess is its electrical. you can hear a sound of what sounds like the latch opening and closing but failing to release so yeh. where did you read that other stuff

Spray your catch with crc or similar, if that doesnt work read on. In the Bootlid you have an electric solinoid, it has 1 power wire going to it and it earths through its mounting holes. When supplied with power (from the button in the glovebox)it creats a magnetic field by passing power through a coil of wires, inside the coil of wires you have a metal spool, when energised the spool is pulled by the magnetic field. On the end of the spool is a cable which is hooked up to the release latch therefore opening it. There is adjustment on the boltholes for the solinoid and also on the release catch itelf. See how you go!
Had the same problem in my vl once upon a time. I pulled out the back seat and reached through with a screwdriver and loosened up one of the screws and bob's your uncle she opened with the key. Wooo Hooo.Originally Posted by GH05T

yeah i can open it with the key ....
anyway it ended up the thing it lartches onto wasa little loose and therefore higher than it whould havebeen cos it lifted up. i tightened the bolt down and slammed the boot hard. all fixed.
it was a simple thing so i dont know if it can help anyone else but if u here it almost opening ie a clunk but no boot rising it might be as simple as my problem

mine used to work fine..... replaced a few blown fuses and what do ya know.... boot release stopped working!!
