Hi, sorry for subscribing just to aska question but I need some help.
I live way out in the sticks and it's hard to get to a shop to have mechanical repairs done, so I just replaced a flange gasket to fix an exhaust leak.
I have nearly fixed it, there was a nut missing which I put a new one on. But there's a space where it seems a screw goes in on the 'top of the triangle' but I don't know what size or shape goes in there or if anything else goes in there at all.
Does anyone know what I'm missing or is it suppose to have only two nuts fastening the header on?
Thanks.
Not entirely sure what you mean but is it the flange between the headers and the first section of you exhaust? By memory they are as you say triangle and so are the gaskets, they have three bolts and nuts holding the flange together. what is it exactly your asking? (Just a little unsure, sorry)Just another thing to mention, I had a friend with a VL and that gasket used to always blow, after letting her get it fixed elsewhere a couple of times I decided to check it out and her catalitic converter was blocked creating too much pressure and therefor blowing that gasket. Changed that and it's still good. Check it out.
Hi.
Yes it's the first section of the exhaust.
Two bolts extend from the block and you fasten the two nuts underneath to clamp it it.
The third seems to require a bolt inserted from underneath to screw into the block. Is that what it needs?
Thanks for replying![]()
Righty 'o'. I got ya, Im pretty sure it is supposed to be 3 studs in your exhaust manafold and then nuts holding the exhaust flange tight. A bolt the same thread, size and length will get you out of trouble.
Hi.
THanks for the advice I tried it, but it won't fit.
Perhaps I have a funny exhaust. THere's a strange dome shaped hole on the pipe. Can't figure it out.
Has anyone had something similar, or do I just have a freaky wierd car?
