VL demister vent problem

when the control is slid up to blow air out the front window vents it just cuts out. if the bar is moved down til it blows again then it comes out from the foot vents??? my mates VL does the same.. anyone have the same problem and fixed it?

Above the fan switch is a screw holding the panel in place.

Remove the screw and CAREFULLY pull the heater control out panel out.

At the bottom is a circular shaped plastic thingy which should have about 6 black rubber hoses plugged into it. (Vacuum operated system) Move both slides up and down through all positions pausing for a few seconds at a time.

If there is any continuous hissing, that usually means a vacuum hose has fallen off.

It is about this time that it's going to be necessary to remove the radio to make it easier to shine a light in there to locate the loose hose and be able to grab it.

Put your finger on the short plastic pipes (approx 10mm long) protruding from beside where the other hoses are connected till you feel your finger being lightly sucked to a pipe. (Hopefully there is only one sucking pipe) feel around for the loose hose and reconnect it and repeat the process of testing every slide switch position. If all the pipes are connected the hissing for each slide position should only last about 1-2 secs.

Then put it back together again.
