Default My VL is very sick

hey lads , ive been saving for a while now to do up my VL but have found out that she has very bad cancer thats gunna cost me a ****load to get cut out , its so much that i think i might have to get rid of it and get a new car. I love the VL its pristine except for the rust , its one of the cleanest VLs around and only has 160 000 on the clock. What to do?????

either get it fixed properly and enjoy the car or patch it up with bog, paint over it and sell her to get most of your money back and start again with something healthier.
Im looking at the same thing at the moment. i cant decide if i wanna go the whole hog on the VL or buy a newer *cough*XR6T*cough*

    well......
whats does it cost about to get it cut out around windscreens?
i have some in the boot there kinda like a drip tray i think or something inside the actuall boot its completely rusted the bottom of this lil tray thing out!

also one screw has fallen out in the engine bay like along the side there are little bolts joining side panels onto car n one fell out n took some paint so now there is rust there... could that get bad? like how long exactly till it would be a major concerne?

christmas holidays i should have 4G and that will be car painted with new window rubbers and hopefully headlights/taillights aswell as full set of new plastic's around the bottom painted (2 tone calais)

    cant wait!

whats it costing for like top of the range paint??
eg. 22" i like the cherry red n wonder what it costs.....

bargain on the windscreen needing to be replaced when they do the rust around the front screen because 9 times outta 10 the screen will break when its taken out.
My brother had the same repairs done to his as you are suggesting, plus a bit in one door i think, and it was around $1600. i thought it was a rip but they did a decent job and the car is now rust free.
a little less for yours because your paint wont need to be touched up (if you plan on a respray anyway...) and your doors are ok (i assume.)

sorry if i rambled i got belted in the head on the weekend and am still nursing a nice lump.

yeah the panel beater says that i will need to get new front/back windscreens caus its pretty bad under there, there was not a spot of rust on it when i first got it caus it was an inland car but now because i live 100m away from the beach the rust is really starting to get to it. Im gunna get it fixed asap but am going for the cheapest option possible. The thing is there is a limited no. of panel beaters in my area

well i just got mine done, it was so bad under there but he got the windscreen out with out breaking it whcich was a bonus
mine only cost $450 to cut the rust out cos a friend did it in his spare time i just had to touch up the paint when i brough her home. and the job wasnt done as good as a pannel beater like there is a few scratches on her now so yeah dont no whether i should of paid more money for a pannel beater to do it ....... But its all fixed not and no more leaks
