Is it the original wheel? Undo the bolt thats holding it on. If its the original wheel, take off the pad and you'll see the bolt. Leave it on a few threads, Pull and wriggle as hard as you can. The special tool is just a steering wheel puller. Supercheap/ Autobarn etc.

Leave a few threads on and when you are wriggling and pulling get your mate to tap the centre nut with a hammer lightly at first. And if that does not work then smash the shit out of it. (no go easy it will come off)

crouch down abit, get ur knees behind the bottom of the wheel at about 5 & 7 on the clock, grab the top of the wheel with left hand, hit the shaft with the nut still on it with a hammer and reef that bitch off. I did it 2 days ago to put my original momo brock wheel on my vk. too easy.

Mate all you need is a steering wheel puller about $20.Then all you is attach it to your wheel and screw the bolt with a spanner.NO HAMMERING NEEDED.

    Goodluck.

or you could save yourself $20 and do what it says earlier (leave nut on a little bit and bash), took me half an hour to change my stock busdriver wheel to my new one

never ever hit it with a hammer. many cars have a sticker in the steering or in the book telling you that. it has collapsable steering and will move it. even a few mm can screw the horn connections, steering lock, and safety of the steering. my puller was under $15 from supercheap. well worth the money.

remember not to hammer. its one of the biggest no nos, right up there with cutting your springs.....

and trust me, it could get someone killed. like cutting the springs. do it properly and safely or get someone who knows what they are doing to do it for you.
last thing you want is your column becoming loose and locking up the steering because it was treated in a way it was not designed to be treated.

or you do it my way!! =) use your brain!

i puller is a straight bit of metal with 2 holes in it exactly where theres to holes in the steering wheel!! see them??

you get to bolts that fit in there and a peice of metal thats like 3" long then the metal goes across the main steering column bolt in the middle where u undo the 2 bolts with like a size 19 open ender.

screw that plate in and it will easily take off the steering wheel no bashing no nothing! if u dont have the bolts there like $2 worth max and an old peice of steal!

I think some steering wheels are harder to get off then others in the vl. I tried yanking mine off to begin with and it came off after a while. Then i realised supercheap had given me the wrong boss kit so i had to put the original back on to go into town and when i got back an came to pull it off yet again i couldnt cos it was fully stuck, i tightened up the bolts too much. went to the mechaincs round the corner and they had the removal tool, so all good in the end
