Default VL - (vn lexcen = vp commodore) qtr

i was wondering if my VL with CAI extractors and 2.5" straight through exhaust and extractors would beat my mates... i think VN lexcen. at the wreckers today i was looking for a new part for it, the part that flows water through the heater and none of the VNs had the right one and i was about to give up when i found a vp with one that was exactly the same and the thermostat was in the same place as his "91 lexcen vn" (from the rego sticker, and i can tell it has the vn body) but yeah the commodore VP engine was exactly the same as his vn lexcen everything from that water piece to the fuel reil covers ontop of the engine. what do you giys think of that?
but yeah back to my first question, a stock VN lexcen (maybe vp) VS vl with 17x8" with extractors CAI and straight through 2"??? who would win

    Default And the winner is...........

Hey Stewart1000. Your mate has got a series II VN as they are identical, mechanically, to the VP and differ from the series I VN.
Who would win depends on the cars condition and on who gets the best jump at the start. VLs change character when they breathe better so it should be close. The VN should be able to catch you, in the end, if you get the better start though but who knows. I have seen VL slugs and VL rockets (non turbo) with little or no mods. There appears to be a wide range in the performance level of different VLs. Have you ever seen the JJD twin tyre setups? I test drove, for the WA distributor, two brand new VL autos fitted with these tyres and the performance difference between the two was astonishing. Both cars were identical with approx 260km on the Odo of each. Post the results of your run ( but of course do it safely and legally)
