My VL came from the factory with a 308 engine number VJ577034 is this a SLR5000 engin?![]()
same kinda motor slr5000 is not the motor it is just a torano with a kit and a 308 5l
Weren't they 304s in the VLs?
just the normal V8.
and may i add, SLR5000 look sooo gooood with the dorp tank i saw a few today!
my web sitestuff on the XF throttle body conversion, calais interior and lots of other junk!
vl came out with a carby fed 304. if its an injected engine its a 308 unless its had a newer head and computer put in, but if you say its factory then forget about that bit!
All VL engines were 304's and all were carby, bar the Group A that was fuel injected.

and the VL Walkie's, they where fuel Injected too im spitty sure
your engine is simply the stock vl 304

if the engine number was prefixed by VW, then you'd have yourself an LV2 4.9 H/Comp. motor

The VW prefix is for the A9L optioned engings as found in the Holden Group A (carby one). The LV2 option became the base model V8 in the VL, and uses the prefix VJ.Originally Posted by Mike215

Correct. Makes it difficult. There was the carby VL Group A's which were HDT/Holden made that were all permenant red, and then there is the HSV Group A (walky) which run port fuel injection.Originally Posted by sixshooter
