i have my new vl and i know the last engin had a lot of kms, suprisingly everything else apart form the engin is in great shape,
how do i find out exactly how many kms my new engin had sone?? can i find the km from a different part like the diff or the belts? is their a way to tell?? or am i simply guessing by the condition??
i dont think there is any way to tell other than your dash... my dash is pretty much useless coz i have a different engine in my vl than what it came with... if you get it rebuilt mark down your dash kms so you know how many k's it has done. for eg, my rebuilt skyline rb30 went in at 251 700 and just clicked over 260 000 on the dash therefor its only done 8300kms thanks to a few trips from nowra to the gold coast and back![]()
Going where no late model stato/caprice has gone before.... GAME ON!!
the condition of the camshaft drivebelt may give a clue but its difficult to inspect without lots of work to get the cover off
I know if you go to the transport dept in your state they will be able to give you some clue because they always note it down when the car gets roadworthy and get rego.
lol, nah just the dash really, but a mechanic should be able to give you some ides for some $$$
