G'day guys. Not sure if Power Control Moduel is the correct name but i hate em just the same. Its the little thing hanging off the dizzy with wires coming out of it. Just a small thing but very expensive and frustrating to fix.
Unlike the last time it shit itself, where it gave warnings just before failure, this time i was crusing down Ipswich road at 90k, minding my own business when "snap", just like that the engin dies....no power...dash ignition lights come on . the head lights , indicators ...every thing else worked still . The ending turned over with plenty of grunt but no start. Bought a brand new coil.....still no start.
It worked out to be the Power control moduel. it cut the power to the engin with no warning....one second it was fine the next it was dead.
so, if you have a problem like this dont waste all your money trying other things first.....go straight for the moduel. it will be the cheaper place to begin your search.
be good stay safe.

its neither the Distributor cap ( i know what they are ) or the Crank Angle Sensor ( i know what that is too ) . its a component attached TO the distributor just NEAR the CAS.
its called the power transistor. ive never heard of one crapping out. jump starting without a surge gaurd would kill it though. im not entirely sure what it does but its interupts the signal to the dizzy. kinda like electronic vaccum advance. dont quote me on that though. call it a semi educated guess or maybe i made it all up.
