    Default limp home mode

does the VL 6 have a limp home mode in the ECU and if so, does this cut out after a time so that the car can no longer be driven
does the ECU often go wrong and are exchange reconditioned ones available, how much?

limp home mode in the ecu???
really your best thing to do if you wanted a new one would be to pull one out of the wreckers, wont cost you much and will probably work fine...
but thats me, i would live at the wreckers if i could

What is it doing? Sure its not just a flat battery or a loose connection? More information required.

If you want an ecu I've got one, 50 dollars for a chipped manual ecu, should work on an auto aswell though.

I always thougth i would someday end up at a wrecking yard! If i ever win lotto,i want to buy 10 acres of land & put a shed in the middle on the hill. Surround it with $200 holdens, & start selling parts in 10 years.
Sorry, just dreaming again, $50 for a ecu, grab it! Wreckers will sting $100 for the same part. Wont hurt to check the two in the car. Why do you yhink the ECU is in limp home mode?

my ecu is OK but i was wondering about a limp home mode as I know some cars have them and they can be programmed to shut the engine down after a while

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they dont. I'll check the manual when I get home tonight though.

limp mode home is for the gearboxes so if your gearbox shits itself you can still get the car home. I don't know if vl gearboxes are electronic controlled but otherwise it wouldn't have anything to do with the ecu.

of course vl autos are electronically controlled theyve got more computer control than a space shuttle thats why theyre such a bitch to fix when they stuff up. has anyone checked to see how many computers there are in a vl commy. at least 2. oh yeah and i just found out that its not as easy to remove the front windscreen as it is to remove the rear. cut up hands and glass eeeverywhere. but hey this weekend the ol 3ltr is coming out and making way for da big 5. mmmm might keep the nissan engine for another project or anyone want to make me an offer for a mint engine with under 200k.

nah never done burnouts or anything like that due mainly to having a bent tailshaft after going over one too many speedbumps. superlow king springs are pretty damn low
