    Default Lose auto stick

Just been looking around a few VL auto's to use as a donor for my 4WD. looking at buying a complete car, but the few i've looked at, the auto stick has quite a bit of movement in the slide when it is in gear, if it's in drive you can move it about an inch or more either way, it doesn't jump into the next gear but it seems lose, is this normal and can it be adjusted or does it mean a very worn box. :b:

Just at a guess i would say it would be in the linkages or the shifter itself, not sure if ajustable. What did it drive like?

The 1 I looked at on the weekend i couldn't drive it as it was half pulled apart, but it was quite loose, but the motor had a bad flat spot from idle and took a bit to get started so I left it where it was and will keep looking.

im surprised you copped a 'few' with such movement in the shifter. My brothers was so tight we had to loosen it slightly. it is normally just in the linkage but could be in the box. either way youll get onto one with no apparent issues without any worries. they are all over the place.
