if your VL headlights are dull and new bulbs dont help theres probably lots of muck inside them
Holden warns against touching the bulbs or using dirty gloves to hold them as this will eventually cause dullness, but I dont think this can account for the amount of muck often in them
it helps to remove the front bumper top trim first, then remove the light unit and remove the glass front lens, it will usually be covered with muck on the inside, mine responded to mineral turps but keep this well away from the silvered part as it reacts with some worn areas, turning them dark brown
the silvering is usually also covered in muck and worn away where it gets hottest and I dont know of any way to fix this, obviously the heat does the damage, the rubber that holds tha parking lamp is usually perished from heat and I couldnt find anything to replace it.
The main 2 fillament globe is difficult to replace with the light unit on the car, a mirror helps to see whats happening, so leave the globes in untli its off the car.
things were lots easier back in the days of replaceable sealed beam units
replaceable VL genuine lights are still available and a cheaper non genuine unit is availab,e in melbourne from SSS auto, I have one and it seems OK
I dont know if the callais lights are different
Calais lights are the same.
not just holden but everyone reccomends not touching the globes. not only may it affect the view of the globe but the oil from your hands can get hot when the globe is on and cause it to smash the glass.
where can i get the inner silver plastic surround from cuz i decided to clean them out to make them shiny ready for blue vision, but the silver plastic in one headlight is burnt and very dullish looking.
try wreckers, might get some better ones. you can get them new somewhere... anyone?
Just buy some new aftermarket ones. they are cheap as chips on ebay.
