Almost broke my VL (story)

just a story with a moral really....

Took off from my place yesterday, went around a corner and the gearbox locked up... as it did that the whole car slid and shuddered then once i was in a straight line again she drove ok, only i had no power and the engine sounded like death.
Turns out the box fluid was low, causing it to lock up (seems that when the fluid is low it locks up on sharp left-handers, and slips on sharp righties....), when the car threw itself 2 leads came off the right bank. I was running on 6 for a bit.

what did i learn? check fluids (ok i had a hunch but was lazy...) and make sure your leads are tight. had all these broken $$$ signs flashing before my eyes.

I haven heard of this, maybe it causes unexplained crashes, its the trimatic, is it?

yeah trimatic. its one of those ones thats been 'on the way out' for a looooong time and just wont die properly.
Yes, it could ahev caused an accident. could have been really nasty if it didnt keep moving as i turn onto a blind intersection and rely on a bit of stick in case something is coming over the hill.
