Dash, gear shifter, and AC lights not coming on when i put my headlamps on
CHecked fuses and relays, fiddled with dimmer switch, what else could be the problem?
blown bulbs my friend, i had the same problem in my vt lucky you have an older car you probably just need generic ones few cents each cost me $55 to replace the globes around my fan controll switches heat switch mode button ect from holden cant buy generic ones for the newwer commodores the bulbs are soldered into a holder and come with a special rubber peice on the end to make it light up green
dimmer switch might be screwed. bypass it and see what happens. you should be able to tell by looking at the globes if they are blown or not.
Check you have the correct fuse in place because fuses are meant to blow before all the globes do. it would take something to be quite wrong for all globes to blow before the fuse does.
if the fuse / globes keep blowing, check all your stop lights etc in the boot for rust and corrosion. very common electrial fault causing area in VL's.
Dimmer switch on mine meltedhad to chase the wiring all the way back & it was screwed all the way thru
ended up having dash lights rewired into headlight switch, so they come on with headlights no dimming now thou.... not that I ever used the dash dimmer anyways. Int light only comes on when door open, cant turn it on anymore but I can live with that.
D.
Yeah it appears the globes have melted, thanx very much for ur input guys
