I dont think they have a limiter as such, but i've been told not to rev it past 5k as the stock ones tend to do bad things past that... not much point going past that anyway as standard cause they just start slowing down, no power up past there...

They apparently do have a rev limiter and it is 6500 but I'm not too keen to rev it that hard and find out. They make their peak power around 4500-5000. Go to Calaisturbo.com they are the VL experts.

because of the smaller capacity. The bigger an engine gets the less willing to rev it becomes. Take ferarri for example if you have heard one of their small V8's rev they rev hard because they are under 3 litres (some). And also to poor engineering of the V6 cannot match the zero defect japanese engineering precision.

They have a fuel cut at about 5,600 as far as I can remember. Some people say they've had it higher but mine always was around 5,600. or bordering on 120km/h in second. Yeah I bumped it a few times on the local drive to the shop.

Yes this is true. I held my auto in 1st and reved it out 4....5...5.5 then the engine died and the revs droped then the engine kicked back in once it got back down to around 4 - 4.5. I imagine that was the rev limiter cause it still went fine after it came back.

in mine (manual vl) i have hit 6500rpm in first, im not keen to risk it again and distroy my engine, in second i would get 2 bout 5000rpm doing 140, but i am running a R32 gearbox so the lengths might be diff to the stock manual vls

do u think taking the vn engine to 5500prm a couple of times a week would do it much harm?

I bought a VL from the local ford dealership, it was a trade in just a stock sh_t box with 300k's on the clock wanted it as a car for A-B but i thought it had potential so i got hold of a guy with a VL TURBO AUTO ex chaser he had bought it and began the big swap, but geting to the point i wanted to try and kill to stocko engine so i would drive it around in 1st gear(auto) hitting the rev limiter at about 5600 i thought i dare say it sounded terrible from the outside but i didnt care it was fun, now its complete and sold running 18psi and is painted WRX blue ya might see it round sunnycoast sometimes.

sounds pretty tough, what did you have to do to make it cope with the 18 pounds of boost?

it depends on what you have done to your motor and more importantly your exhausts... my n/a vl will rev out to 6500 but thats pushing it. i shift at 6000 ind its perfect. i have a 2.5 in exhaust with a small cannon and everytime any one sees my extractors they always comment on how big they are

Stock standard VL in 2nd at 6100Rpm does 107. Went and tryed it to find out. Was with Manual tho, i belive the auto's must have a limiter at 5600Rpm.

yeah sounds about right, auto have a lower limit so it doesnt cook itself, and manual have a higher limit or no limit lol.

i used to own a vl turbo, all standard, was a manual and its rev limiter was set to 6500, i tried it one night in 1st, sounded quite nice :P it droped back to around 5000 then back to 6500, lol.

it had done over 1mil on the clock and still went like a rocket.

    go nissan!!!

im not sure on the diametre as ive never measured them, ill get the vernias out later today and see what they are but they do look rather large compared to others i have seen... i always warm my car up for at least ten mins before i drive it unless im in a real hurry so those winter mornings arnt a problem and my car WAS auto and it still never had a limiter that i could reach
