    Unhappy Losing Power

    hey ppls..
    i got a bit of a problem..
it seems that my gears are all smaller, and when im driving at around 80 + k's
if i put my foot down.. the injection doesnt kick in n it goes really sluggy?!?!
    ANY IDEAS?
talkin to some ppl they seem to think the injectors are stuffed (not the fuel injection) but i dont see how this can happen overnight..
    any ideas? I NEED POWER!
I wonder what those scales on the top right side of my posts do...

what are the injectors that arent the fuel injection injectors?

could be your gearbox, low on fluid, or overful.....

sounds like a good start at least.

im still confused about the "injection not kicking in" theory, "but not the fuel injection"...
can you help me out here?

lol You got that from what I say, no need for 10mins though man. sheesh a lil overkill......... 1min if that each injector.

Drivers side wheel arch.. If you jack up the car, support it with a stand and slide under you can see it. Follow the fuel lines from the rear passenger door, Underneath.. if you reach under with your hand you can feel the lines even.

What you need to do is start the car and remove the fuel pump relay and let the car die. Try and start it again with the fuse out and then if it doesn't start your right to go..

Undo the two clamps holding the current filter on. Work quick and have a towel on you ready for spills. remove the old filter, put the new one in, making sure direction is the right way.. Then do up the clamps.. Put the fuse back in. Turn ignition off/on a couple of times- Start the car, check for leaks. Done.

Edit, as for the injection switch or whatever, maybe just thinking about the kickdown switch at the back of the accelerator pedal not getting a good enough connection and kicking back that gear fast enough.

Is that all you mean by losing power or is there more to the story.

do i need to do all that stuff to change the filter? cant i jus change it?

Thats the method all the repair manuals describe. It's really not much there, would take about 10 minutes. All your doing by removing the fuse is depressurising the fuel system so when you take the hose off it doesn't go everywhere and you don't lose as much fuel.

2 minutes preperation that will save you 10 minutes cleaning up.

Can give it a go I guess. Battery off, pump the brake a few times, then drive it hard from the get go.

Still don't know whats going on, your ratios shouldn't change

could also be your gearbox...r u talking about the power kickdown, i have a prob with my car occasionally, driving at 80k's got to the straight down went the foot up went the speed not sluggish at all, but yesterday foot goes down speed goes up SLOWLY.

getting my gearbox serviced maybe check out my button on the peddle cuz its a bit shit when you trying to overtake but it just don't make it... don't really like chucking it back into second at 100.

$70 to $150 dependant on where you end up getting it done.
like bex said, gear ratios dont change, it might just seem that way because it isnt kicking back like it used to. I got a new box and had to get used to it kicking at different revs.
