Ive used several radiator caps but all have been tight and difficult to turn on and off. grease or oil helps a bit for a while.:rofl2:
however the metal ring that the cap pressure seal sits down on is soft on my VL and gradually goes out of shape, allowing water loss due to the cooling system being not properly pressurised. I eventually have to knock it back into shape with hammer and screwdriver.
is anyone else having this problem?

Buy a decent rad cap and put it on properly. I've only ever replaced 1 in the 2 vl's I have had and I been driving vl's over 10 years :/
