sounds to me like uve lost too much back preasure. is she idaling bad too?
it does it at like 60 in 4th and then try and put my foot down but when i drive hard i doesnt do it like when i change at about 3500-4000.
i dont think the rev gauge is off cus it acts normal.
it idles fine when im just sittin on a flat but when i just start it on a hill then the revs sit really low and she really back fires. and also some times when u go to take off softly it feels like she is gonna stall but that could mean im lettin the clutch out to soon but im not sure.
well thats y the gear ur in is to high 4 the acelration at that speed, because the gear is high it take time 2 build up revs coz of its ratio, so tahts y when u knock it bak it gose because its the right gear 4 the right job.
wat size exhaust u got? might b 2big causing negative presure and making xesive backfiring

maybe guys we should stop just assuming that he is shifting to early and start suggesting some things that might be wrong with his VL so he can check them out?
Im definatly no mechanic but maybe worth checking your spark plug leads (a rat ate half way through one of mine once and it ran like a box)...
yeh get it checked out properly, until then if ur gona put ur foot down use 3rd gear, 4th is jst for cruisin...Originally Posted by craigvl038

I think people are really suggesting things that might help. does sound to me like the prob is that if you tramp it in forth, youre tryin to make the car accelerate faster then is possible at that speed in that gear. that would cause the sluggish feel, until the speed of the car starts to catch where he's tryin to put the revs... 60 in 4th is defenitely not the place for quick acceleration, if you drop it back to third an have no probs, do that, problem solved...Originally Posted by JBVL
I know that in mine I can easily slip back into second at that speed for a quick boot, but be careful in the wet as it freaks people out when you overtake them sideways at 60/70kmph... an dont let your mates wave to them if it happens, that jus scares them even more... i should prob mention the huge potential for a crash too, jus to be responsible....
