the 6 cyl wagons have 2, 1 in the tank and the other outside at the rear, dont know about the sedans, some publications say they only have 1
most autoelectricians are familiar with VL fuel pumps, first check the electric connections, also look at the rubber fuel line sections which will eventually burst if never renewed

fuel can spurt out if you dont wait a while before undoing the hose

a low pressure in the tank
a high pressure outside the tank replace both $240
one fails the other soon follows

there are two, 1 in the tank is the feeder to the high pressure outside the tank, they are wire parrallel so run together untill that regulator turns them off. I had no end of problemns , I recon regulator as I clamped off return line at the manifold before the regulator, which depends on Vacum to operate, and it started straighta way.
Regards, one very patient VL owner, if secondary high pressure goes, go aftermarket, they have an anti flow back valve, or better still HOLLEY
